Art and other fine things

January 24
I loaned my old flashcards from a&p to Jeff, since he's studying the bones in his Anthropology class. Woke up this morning and saw he had forgotten them on my counter (he came back for them later). I drew them all by hand because I'm silly that way. Well, I was an art major.
January 25
I printed the first batch of shirts with my artwork today! I'm going to sell them at my art show. Larry let me pull shirts from backstock for super cheap, so I've got a lot of colors. I'll be printing the dark shirts later.

January 26

We went to dinner for my birthday! Dinner was at 6 degrees on Solano in Albany where David Ramsey is the head chef now. He sent out all kinds of extra foods and desserts and came out to chat for a bit toward the end of the night. Also, John needs to learn to smile in photographs.
January 27

I went to the opening reception for the Beaux & Eros art show at the Penninsula Museam of Art in Belmont. I have 2 pieces in the show. The place was packed. I met some really friendly artists, one of whom allowed me to photograh her wild red shoes! I'm hoping some of them will make it to my solo show.

January 28 I printed the dark shirts today. Here's the screen I used after I took it down. I like the teal color of the emulsion.

January 29
The sun made an appearance today! Horray!

My birthday and other shenanigans

January 17
Jeff made potoato soup for me today. It was very good because he put in delicious leeks and not crummy red peppers. He is cutting mushrooms for the soup on the cutting board he gave me for my birthday.
January 18Today was the reception for the first art show I've coordinated at Gardner Community Center. I'll be helping to put on a different show every month. The smiley guy here is Tony, the coordinator I work with. He is super awesome.

January 19It's the day before my birthday, so I made a torte. Here is the chocolate melting. mmmm... Some friends came over and we played wii. Chill and fun. It was a good day.

January 20 Out to dinner with my mom and brother for my birthday. Also along were Josh (of course), Richard, Shayna and Lara. I'm 26. Which means I'm either in my early late twenties or my late mid twenties depending on if I'm feeling optimistic or not. Jeff, a true disciple of my silliness, made a table out of suger packets which was able to suppot a pint glass. Impressive, Jeff.

January 21

Today was a day of much drawing. Six new ones today. Here they are all stacked up in a disorderly fashion.

January 22 Another day of preping for my upcoming art show on the first, I cut out a massive amount of paper hearts. I feel like I'm in kindergarten. I swear if someone asks me to write my name on one of these and string it around my neck with yarn I will fight back this time!

January 23
I walked around downtown SJ putting up flyers for my show today. I walked over my favorite number (the answer to life, the universe and everything) on my way down second street. Cool.

Days of Love

January 14
It's kind of hard to tell from the quick snapshot, but Josh was making an "I love you" sign while he pumped gas today. We like to flash the sign to each other all sneeky like. We're so adorable it makes you sick, right?
January 15
I was working on odds and ends for my upcoming art show today. I made a bunch of little heart pins that people can wear on their sleeves. Cheesey I know, but I love it!
January 16
I went tromping around with Lara in Belmont at Twin Pinks Park, and I saw a helicopter (not it's real name, I'm sure) tree! I haven't seen one since I lived in Indiana when I was under five. They look really cool when the seeds fall, since they helicpter down. I, of course, grabed a handful of seeds to plant in my window.

The lucky first 13 days of the year

January 1, 2008
This was taken on the way back to Tara's house from the bar where we rung in the new year. Josh has been trying to lick me all night, in fact every photo taken of the two of us together is of him licking me. Apparantly when Josh gets smashed, I begin to resemble a lolipop or something.
January 2

Day two and I've already blown it. I forgot to take a photo at Belly dancing class on the second, so I took this the next morning. Oops.

January 3 Today I learned to knit! I got a book from the Recycle Bookstore, "Kids Knitting". Hey, it seemed pretty easy to follow. I'm making a black scarf and as usual, I'm already planning a dozen projects for down the road which I may or may not ever get to.

January 4 Today it started to rain. Like a bunch. That is, a bunch if you're a wuss who likes in California. I like how the rain makes all the colors darker and brighter except for the sky, which goes pale gray.

January 5 Lara drew an om on the window of her van while driving today. More rain.

January 6 Chip was annoying today. Mostly because he was super clingy and kept following me around. I have a Cockatiel with abandonment issues.

January 7Today I helped Elizabeth (soon to be Athena) help her artwork at the Gardener Community Center. I'll be coordinating solo shows at Gardener all year and this is my first one. Next month will be my work, Lara's will be in August. Yay!

January 8 Jeff slept over last night. I don't think he much appriciated this picture, but sisters are like that sometimes.

January 9 Lara and I went hiking at Skyline Ridge and identified mushrooms. That was hella fun! We had originally intended to find edible mushrooms, but the only edible one was a Slippery Jack, which kind of tastes like slimey nothing according to the book, so we skipped it.

January 10 Ardvark and Mark hung the sign for Method 42 Productions today. I just happened to come out of work just as they were getting ready, so I stopped and took photos.

January 11 I spent most of the day drawing. Lara came over and Chip sang to her feet. Why he has a thing for feet, I have no idea.

January 12 Lara and I made cupcakes today. She planned a party, but no one could come, so we had a cupcake party together instead! I really love cupcakes. They are mega awesome.

January 13
Spent the entire day in front of the TV with Josh. I can't handle sitting still for that long, so I drew, knitted and messed around on my laptop. Josh slept through most of the day. Seems to me like napping just makes you more tired.

So here's the idea...

I'm taking one photo every day for one year. I'm going to start posting them here next week. I won't nessasarily pick the best photo I've taken each day, but the one which seems to tell the story of that day the best. I've already noticed that I pay more attention to things when I'm thinking about my daily photo and sometimes, when I look at the photo I see something I didn't notice when I took the picture. I started snapping on Jan 1, 2008.
